The Texas Fire Chiefs Association's annual awards program recognizes members of the fire service for improving the life and fire safety of Texas citizens. Awards are given for service, innovation, and heroism.
Fire Chief of the Year: The Fire Chief of the Year Award is TFCA's highest honor for service. To be eligible, a nominee must meet the following qualifications: (1) Be a Fire Chief and current member of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association; (2) Be dedicated to life safety issues and to the Texas Fire Service; and (3) Have completed significant achievements or accomplishments during the previous year for their department through their leadership and vision.
Lone Star Achievement Award: The Lone Star Achievement Award honors departments for implementing an innovative and progressive program that enhances their community’s fire and life safety service delivery. (1) The Department’s Fire Chief must be a current member of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association. (2) The nominated program must have been in place for at least one year. (3) The program nominated must have produced positive outcomes that enhanced the Department’s community fire and life safety service delivery or directly increased firefighter safety and wellness or created a safer community through proactive injury prevention program delivered by the Department through the program.
Valor Award: The Texas Fire Chiefs Association recognizes Texas firefighters who have placed themselves in mortal danger to to save a human life. Recipients must be (1) nominated by their Fire Chiefs and (2) the Fire Chief must be a member of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association.
